Join us as we celebrate one of our favorite artists, James Turrell, and dedicate a whole Art Lab to how he “sculpts with light.” We’ll create our own slides to project and explore light and how we can play with it and make art with this fabulously elusive material!

Twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays, visitors are invited to participate in a range of art-making activities that illuminate the creative process of in-residence artists. Projects and materials are developed to complement current and ongoing exhibitions. This program is free with museum admission and highly recommended for individuals or families with children of all ages.

Mattress Factory Education and Community progams are made possible by the generous support from the Allegheny Regional Assets District, Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation, Jack Buncher Foundation, Sheila Fortune Foundation, Grable Foundation, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Surdna Foundation.
