ARTLab: Every-Body Draws

ARTLab: Every-Body Draws

1-4 pm
FREE with Museum Admission
Museum Lobby @ 500 Sampsonia Way

Check out a new solo exhibition in our 1414 Monterey gallery by Janine Antoni, entitled Within. For over two decades, Janine Antoni's artistic process poses a question to its viewer: what does it mean to have a body? For most artists, their bodies are their primary tool for making art. Have you ever considered the body mechanics it requires to simply hold a pencil? Join us as we create drawings using our bodies in fun and unpredictable ways inspired by Antoni's unorthodox methods.

Twice a month, on the first and third Saturdays, visitors are invited to participate in a range of art-making activities that illuminate the creative process of in-residence artists. Projects and materials are developed to complement current and ongoing exhibitions. This program is free with museum admission and highly recommended for individuals or families with children of all ages.

Mattress Factory Education and Community progams are made possible by the generous support from the Allegheny Regional Assets District, Milton & Sally Avery Arts Foundation, Jack Buncher Foundation, Sheila Fortune Foundation, Grable Foundation, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Surdna Foundation.
