EITC Program

Your business can support the Mattress Factory's inclusive and innovative Education Programs while obtaining a significant state tax benefit.

As a non-profit museum, the Mattress Factory has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to offer Educational Improvement Tax Credits [EITC] to companies who make a donation to the museum's K-12 programs. The museum offers students of all abilites, including those from low-income families, the opportunity to learn from professional artists, to engage with contemporary works of art, and to receive mentoring, emotional support, and homework help from trained Museum Educators. The following FREE programs are supported by EITC contributions:

  • INSTALL: Afternoons @ the Factory is a weekly afterschool program. Third through fifth grade students work with professional artists on collaborative projects that inspire experimentation and inter-disciplinary thinking.
  • Outreach and School Partnerships bring the Mattress Factory's unique and creative programming directly to schools, fellow non-profit organizations, libraries, and other partner organizations throughout the Pittsburgh region. Each program is planned in collaboration with teachers and school administrators to meet students' specific needs and educational goals.
  • Group Visits enable students of all ages to visit the Mattress Factory and participate in hands-on activities and discussions led by Museum Educators. Last year, the Mattress Factory launched Mini Tours, a new early childhood learning program for children ages 3-6, and in 2017, the Mattress Factory offered more free tours to students from public schools and low-income households than ever before.

Your business may contribute up to $750,000 to receive state tax credits equal to 75% of your contribution. You can increase your tax credits up to 90% if you make a contribution in the same amount or more to the Mattress Factory for two consecutive years. If you have not done so already, your business can apply to participate in the Pennsylvania EITC program through the PA Department of Community + Economic Development.
