COVID Policies

Welcome Back!

We are excited to welcome you back to the Museum! In preparation for your visit, below are some updates and new procedures to help keep you safe.

New Hours

To ensure extra time for our new enhanced sanitization procedures, along with more time for more art, we’ve changed our hours!

The Museum is now open on Thursday – Sunday, 11 AM – 6 PM and Wednesday, 11 AM – 8 PM.

Purchase Your Tickets in Advance Online

To limit the number of the visitors in the Museum at a time, we have instituted a timed-entry system. All visitors must purchase their tickets online before arriving at the Museum.

Purchase your tickets HERE.

When you arrive at the Museum, you will need to show either a digital or paper copy of your e-ticket at admissions. You may arrive at any time during the first half-hour of your time slot, but please do not arrive before the time on your ticket.

Wear a Mask

For your safety and the safety of all visitors and staff, masks are required for everyone inside the Museum.

If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, please notify the Museum in advance via info@mattress.org or 412-231-3169.

Practice Social Distancing

All visitors are required to adhere to social distancing guidelines of at least six feet. To help maintain social distancing, we have placed markers on the floor and redesigned traffic flow to limit interaction.

Exhibitions where social distancing cannot be observed are temporarily closed or re-configured. For this reason, James Turrell’s Pleiades is temporarily closed.

All changes to traffic flow and exhibitions are noted on signage throughout the Museum.

Limit Touching

As you navigate the Museum, MF Shop and Boxspring Café, please refrain from touching surfaces unless necessary. Hand sanitizer is located throughout the Museum for your use.

We are also encouraging cashless payments wherever available. Please plan to use credit cards in place of cash transactions in the Shop and Café.

What We’re Doing to Keep You Safe

We have instituted enhanced sanitization procedures across our campus, including:

  • All exhibits and high-traffic areas are thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis.
  • Additional disinfecting occurs on an hourly basis, focusing on higher-traffic areas.
  • Restrooms are regularly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available on every floor of the Museum and at every desk.
  • Plexiglass shields have been installed at the Admissions desk, the MF Shop and Boxspring Café.
  • All employees are taking required temperature checks before each shift.

If you have medical concerns, we encourage you to contact info@mattress.org for help in planning your visit. If you feel ill or have recently come in contact with someone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. We will be excited to welcome you back at a later date.
