Event Summary

Factory 500 and Patron Level Members are invited to join the Mattress Factory for the last excursion of the year as we explore Pittsburgh’s historic Troy Hill neighborhood.

On this excursion, we will hear from upcoming resident artists for the Mattress Factory’s Regional Open Call, Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis, where they will speak to us about their artistic practices; the transformation and history of their studio space; their public art gallery, Gallery Closed; and their most recent project, Darkhouse Lighthouse, the newest addition to the Troy Hill Art Houses. Afterward, we will join Pittsburgh art collector and friend of the Mattress Factory, Evan Mirapaul, the founder of the Troy Hill Art Houses, for a reception over light bites and beverages at his home, where he will talk to us about the Art Houses. During the reception, we will enjoy small-group tours of the Troy Hill Art Houses, including Darkhouse Lighthouse, only a week after it opens to the public!

The schedule of events is as follows:

    • 4:00 – 5:00 PM– Gallery Closed site and Lenka Clayton and Phillip Andrew Lewis’ Studio Space, 1733 Lowrie St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
    • 5:00 – 7:00 PM– Reception at Evan Mirapaul’s home and tours of the Troy Hill Art Houses
