Event Summary

On Thursday, September 30, celebrate the launch of the Northside Cultural Corridor — the one-mile Northside cultural district — with free admission and activities across Northside museums and cultural institutions!

The Northside Cultural Corridor is a placemaking initiative that focuses on the approximate one-mile passage from the Mattress Factory to The Andy Warhol Museum. Current partners include Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh; Mattress Factory; The Andy Warhol Museum; City of Asylum; the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy; and the National Aviary. With thanks to generous support from a RADical ImPAct Grant from the Allegheny Regional Asset District, the Corridor Partners work to build stronger relationships between our institutions and our neighboring communities.

On September 30, we’re excited to announce the official launch of our project! In partnership with Grounded Strategies, the Corridor will be publishing new walking path maps for the Corridor cultural district. Maps will be available online and at all of our institutions.

Additionally, the Corridor museums and cultural institutions will be FREE to the public, with various drop-in activities. Visit one or all locations!

  • Reserve FREE timed-entry admission online for the Mattress Factory here [some time slots are already sold out! If you see “sold out,” try another time!]. You can reserve admission to The Warhol (warhol.org) or Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh (pittsburghkids.org) by visiting each partner website. Tickets WILL sell out – book early!
  • Enjoy drop-in activities in Allegheny Commons Park, City of Asylum Bookstore (alphabetcity.org) and Buhl Community Park. Open hours and activity times vary.
  • See each website for details and a schedule of activities. Registration for some activities may be required.
  • Please note that many organizations have capacity limits and other safety measures in place. Please check each organization’s website for safety protocols before visiting on September 30.

The National Aviary will continue to be closed on Thursday, September 30 to focus on bringing Kody, the Steller’s Sea Eagle home. We are truly sorry. The Aviary will be in touch with those who have reserved tickets to join us as part of the Northside Corridor Free Day to provide free passes for a future visit.

Schedule

Day’s activities run through 10 AM – 6 PM. Check each organization’s website to confirm hours and specific times.

Unless otherwise noted, all activities are FREE! We thank the Allegheny Regional Asset District for its support.
