This play is a reflection on the (im)possibility of accepting diversity and the other. The fragmented body of the neoplasm—the fruit of unstable conditions—overcomes barriers, loves and denies itself and others, wanders around, forgetting its profession. It frequently and with pleasure divides, goes through dangerous palpation, questions the possibility of contact with the experience of the other. Poorly brought up but very successful, it invites us to a trans-species transition.

Artist Statement
I make contemporary memento mori to remind us that life can be short and fragile. Memento Mori can be translated as “be mindful of death”. Reform and repent. Or seize the day. Your choice. This work invites you to pose as a shroud-wrapped figure in a coffin --- a position all of us will eventually come to.

Mary M. Mazziotti is a visual artist whose practice includes painting and installation with a special interest in textiles. She is represented by the O. K. Harris Gallery in NYC and Borelli-Edwards Galleries in Pittsburgh and has exhibited in galleries and museums including The Carnegie Museum of Art, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Institute of Contemporary Art and the Rundetaarne in Copenhagen. Mazziotti has completed residencies throughout the United States, Spain, France and Australia. She has lived and worked in Bermuda, the Middle East and Singapore and currently resides in Pittsburgh, PA.
