Join us on a Guided Visit, a new way to experience Mattress Factory!

Guided Visits offer a new way to engage with the exhibitions at Mattress Factory. These 90-minute explorations include all exhibitions on view across the museum’s campus and provide an opportunity to deeply engage with the installations and the museum itself.

Launching February 16, 2026, Guided Visits take place by appointment each Monday at 11 AM and 2 PM. Each Guided Visit is capped at 15 attendees.

After checking in at the front desk, visitors begin with an overview of Mattress Factory’s history and its artist-centered international residency program. From there, the group will move through both short- and long-term installations on view. Along the way, your guide will share information about the artists, their processes, and the ideas behind the work, while providing prompts for discussion and deeper looking.

Guided Visits are designed to support all levels of familiarity with place-based installation art. For visitors viewing with fresh eyes, the guided format offers helpful entry points and background. For those who engage regularly with contemporary art, the visits provide additional context, time for focused observation, and opportunities for conversation.

Rather than presenting a single, fixed interpretation, Guided Visits encourage observation, dialogue, and shared experience. The goal is to give each visitor tools to engage with the work in their own way.
