Thin strips of what appears to be carpet have been cast in metal…softness transformed into something more forceful. These strips have become playful sculptural interventions in the physical architecture of the gallery, challenging it and aggressively altering its values.
Pati Beachly attended the Lacoste School of Art in France and received her BA in Studio Art from the University of Maryland, College Park. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received her MFA in Sculpture. She currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA and is an Associate Professor of Art and Director of the Art Program at Seton Hill University.
