Mattress Factory is an artist-centered museum, international residency program and renowned producer and presenter of installation art. We say “yes” to artists, offering time and space to dream and realize projects in our hometown, Pittsburgh, PA. Exhibition Opening: Yasmine El Meleegy

Join us for the exclusive unveiling of Yasmine El Meleegy's latest solo exhibition at Mattress Factory! 

El Meleegy was selected for exhibition by a panel of Mattress Factory alumni artists through the 2024 International Open Call. Artists who have worked in residency with Mattress Factory offer perspective unlike any other, one that is deeply familiar with the museum, engaged in many aspects of the contemporary art field, and invested in pushing our exhibitions in new directions.

Please note, parking is limited at our main lot at 505 Jacksonia Street, with additional street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood.

 

About Yasmine El Meleegy

Yasmine El Meleegy (b.1991) is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist and sculptor living and working in Cairo. She holds a BFA in Painting from Helwan University in 2013, and a Diploma in Multimedia from Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Nimes in 2014. Before joining the MASS Alexandria independent art program in 2016. She has shown her work in a solo exhibitions titled "The Six Hundred Seventy Four Forms And A Dragon” at FOR Space, Basel in 2023, “ To Mend Is To Shatter’’ at Gypsum Gallery, Cairo in 2023, “Rites of Passage” at Townhouse Gallery, Cairo in 2018, and carried out a performative intervention at Stephenson Pharmacy in Cairo, “Scaffolding a Familiar Epoch” in 2021.
