Join a community of film lovers for this limited chance to watch short art film screenings in the museum’s intimate setting. And of course, we’ll have your favorite theater snacks stocked just for you.
Two public film screenings curated by Benny Shaffer and co-hosted by Pittsburgh Sound + Image will be presented as part of Summer School: State of the Sky, an interdisciplinary, arts-centered education program organized by artists Luke Stettner and Calista Lyon within the State of the Sky exhibition this summer.
Taking the exhibition’s inquiry into atmospheres and ways of seeing the sky as a point of departure, the screening programs will feature experimental and documentary films projected on 16mm film and video. Each program will be followed by a discussion exploring how visual and sonic strategies engage with various social and environmental experiences of labor and industry, while also intervening in archives and historical narratives.
General admission tickets are $10. Free for Mattress Factory members, Pittsburgh Sound + Image members, and university students. Registration required.
